We want to provide you with an affordable Handmade Jewelry box or Keepsake box that is highly crafted, beautiful and functional. Since we are a small company, we can focus on the craftsmanship and functionality of each box. We are extremely particular about our boxes; they must feel smooth to the touch; the joints must be precise, the sliding boxes must move smoothly and the lids must close tightly. Our boxes are built to last, they are heirlooms that can be passed on to future generations.

HAND SELECTED, HANDCRAFTED, HANDMADE

We are very particular about what goes into our boxes. We primarily use Cherry, Curly Maple, African Mahogany, Walnut and sometimes Bubinga. We carefully select pieces of wood with unique grain patterns for the main body of our boxes. Since we use veneers on our lids, we look for veneers with the most stunning design. For trim pieces, we like to use the more exotic woods such as Chechen, Granadillo, Goncalo Alves, Bloodwood and even Bubinga. Since we do not use any dyes or stains, the natural beauty of the woods is allowed to take precedence.

FUNCTIONALITY IS THE NAME OF THE GAME

All of our boxes are our own design and that design includes functionality. That functionality includes jewelry boxes with necklace hangers, ring holders, sliding boxes that lift out, drawers and dividers. Our large jewelry boxes include a necklace hanger with a velvet pouch built into the lid to keep those necklaces and chains from tangling. The built-in divider in the bottom of the box is a wonderful organizer for smaller jewelry items such as bracelets or earrings. Not to be forgotten are our keepsake boxes, these boxes are designed to keep wallets, watches, keys and other such gentlemen’s items. Or, they can be used for remotes, keepsakes, treasures, stationary and many more things.

HOW TO BUILD A BEAUTIFUL BOX

It is always exciting to see a box come into being. The bodies of our boxes are made from hand selected wood such as Cherry, Curly Maple, African Mahogany and Walnut. The lids consist of veneer which has been vacuum pressed with veneer glue onto a piece of ½ inch medium density fiber wood. Since medium density fiber wood is quite dense and does not warp, twist or bend, our lids will always fit perfectly. The bottoms are all made from Cherry plywood and not only will they not warp, but they look finished, not like raw wood. All of our boxes are signed on the bottom with unique serial numbers that are kept on a database.

The mitered corners of the boxes are all reinforced with invisible splines or “biscuits” making them quite strong and durable. Our customers often comment that they are buying an heirloom, something that can be passed on to the next generation.

There are no sharp edges or corners on our boxes, they must look and feel smooth. In addition, the velvet lining feels good and gives them a plush appearance.

Finally, we sand and sand and sand; every edge, every corner every surface gets sanded multiple times. The box has to feel good.

IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S FINISHED

People often compliment us on our finishes. A good finish starts as soon as you start building a box; therefore, we sand and sand until the box is as smooth as we want it to be. Our final finishing process involves multiple steps of carefully applied finishing products. After you purchase your heirloom, you need only to occasionally wipe off the dust to brighten up the finish once again. Inside, our boxes are lined with real velvet to give them a rich, plush appearance.
